The EU Parliament has legislated that Member States will adopt EU Regulation 2037/2000 – Ozone Depleting Substances. This will mean:
- Virgin R22 refrigerant cannot be used for service and maintenance of refrigeration and air conditioning after 31st December 2009.
- Only recycled/reclaimed R22 can be used from 1st January 2010 to 31st December 2014 and this product will be very limited in supply.
- Production of R22 air conditioning equipment has already ceased.
- Organisations dependant on R22 refrigeration in their refrigeration and air conditioning system need to make a decision NOW.
