Leisure Centre More Environmentally Friendly Thanks to Weatherite
Andover Leisure Centre in Hampshire has benefitted from a new environmentally friendly Chiller installation and associated 
ventilation system installed by Weatherite Building Services.
Weatherite won the tender for this project for a number of reasons including their competitive price, their M&E project management expertise and excellent health & safety record, particularly regarding the use of large crane lifts in a public place.
The project involved replacing the existing Dry Side building chiller with a high capacity air cooled CIAT chiller, as well as installing new chilled water connections. The CIAT model has many advantages, being very quiet operation, compact and easy to maintain, as well as being more environmentally friendly. The user also benefits from having built in versatile controls which can be interrogated remotely.
In addition, a new ‘Recupovent Series 7 air handling unit’ was fitted to replace the old failed system in the Wet Side building fitness suite to provide fresh and exhaust air ventilation with energy recovery. The installation included a new control panel, plus associated connections for ducting and heating pipe work.
Building Services, commented: “We were very pleased to have worked with engineers from Test Valley Borough Council and their partner Valley Leisure on their joint R22 refrigerant replacement programme.
“The previous chiller system was outdated as it used the R22 refrigerant which has been proven to have a detrimental effect on the ozone layer. Users of the centre will now be able to enjoy exercising in a cooler, fresher environment, safe in the knowledge that it has been fitted with the latest energy efficient plant.”
