New Heating Systems for Aston University

Weatherite Building Services Ltd has carried out a major upgrade of the heating system within several buildings at Aston University, Birmingham.

As part of the university’s general refurbishment programme, Weatherite supplied and installed new door heater, panels and water heaters for the new main entrance hall. It also modified ventilation and heating systems serving four of the University’s lecture rooms.

The work, worth over £53,000, also required the installation of new gas mains to five floors serving the laboratories and some lab benches, including a live break-in to the university’s gas main.

The work had to be carried out to a tight deadline and within a limited budget, while causing minimum disruption to the normal operation of the university. The heating contract follows the installation of a new air conditioning system in the Audiology department in the Vision Sciences building and is the latest of many projects Weatherite has carried out on the campus.

“As with every project, we worked closely with the contractors GF Tomlinson and CPM Ltd to ensure that the projects were completed with as little disruption as possible to the staff and students within the building,” said Roy Buckle of Weatherite.

WBS is part of the £40m Weatherite Group, one of the UK’s leaders in air conditioning and air handling equipment.

WBS has expanded its activities to cover other sectors of the building services market including heating, ventilation, boiler house refurbishment, water, control systems and electrics as well as all aspects of commercial air conditioning systems, offering a single source choice to its customers which include full project management, design, installation and commissioning capabilities.
