Weatherite Extract Canopies for New Waitrose Supermarket

Weatherite, the West Midlands based building services group, has supplied kitchen extract canopies for a new store opened in Droitwich by Waitrose, the supermarket division of the John Lewis Partnership.
The canopies serve island rotisserie ovens and a kitchen bake off room on the first floor of the building in Saltway which has been created in partnership with Wychavon District Council.
The project involved equipment supplied and installed by Aldridge-based Weatherite Building Services and is the second to be completed by the company following an earlier Waitrose contract in Cheltenham.
The John Lewis Partnership is one of the UK’s top 10 retail businesses including 168 Waitrose stores and the company is spearheading a drive to expand its supermarket operations in the Midlands and north of England.
The Droitwich contract – placed by Kershaw Mechanical Services of Stourbridge (West Midlands) – was completed under Weatherite’s partnership deal with one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of kitchen ventilation systems.
The agreement with De Kobra – which has a factory at Opwijk in Belgium – covers not only canopy designs but a complete kitchen ventilation package for the UK commercial sector.
This includes a distribution system which enables various utilities – such as gas, electricity and water – to be brought together in a single stainless steel fabricated unit.
