Weatherite Building Services has installed new heating systems at a number of council-run establishments across Walsall.
Following the results of a risk assessment of their heating systems, Walsall Council awarded Weatherite Building Services the contract – worth over £500,000 – to carry out the work at three primary schools, a college and a disability and respite care centre.
At New Invention Infant School in Walsall and Salisbury Primary School in Wednesbury, Weatherite supplied and installed Rinnai gas heaters to provide temperature-controlled heating throughout the buildings. In addition, Bloxwich Church of England JMI School in Walsall received 21 new LPHW Fan Convectors and 20 radiators to replace their ageing heating systems.
The disability and respite care centre based at Broadway North, Walsall and Brownhills Technical College each benefited from two new gas fired boilers, which incorporate flue heat recovery units to provide more cost and energy efficient heating. New gas fired DHWS generators also replaced existing uneconomical hot water storage cylinders in each building.
Mike Turton, sales director, Weatherite Building Services, commented: “We have worked with several local authorities to help them comply with their strict water safety requirements to prevent against scalding and risk of legionella bacteria.
“We were able to carry out the work quickly, cost effectively and on deadline, causing minimum disruption to all concerned. Having developed a good working relationship with Walsall Council, we look forward to helping them again in the future.”
