Weatherite Keeps Laboratory Cool

Weatherite Building Services has installed a new cooling system within a National Blood Service laboratory at their Bristol Centre.
Following a successful tender, Weatherite was awarded the contract - worth nearly £4,000 - by the National Blood Service.
The work involved the design, supply and installation of a Hitachi Utopia ceiling cassette to operate in conjunction with an existing VRF system located in a chilled cabinet storeroom within one of the centres laboratories. The Hitachi unit was chosen not only because it could improve airflow distribution to the room but also as it was more cost effective than replacing the existing unit.
Brian Taylor, sales engineer, Weatherite Building Services, explains: “We were aware that the client needed additional air conditioning to maintain the storeroom at 20 degrees, whilst not affecting their existing VRF system. Our solution was to install an independent Hitachi Utopia system as it is quiet, reliable and energy efficient, with advanced remote controls to allow the user to easily control the air flow.
Brian continues: “Since carrying out this project, we have been asked to provide further heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions to other National Blood Service sites. We have also recently delivered a seminar to all their Regional Construction Managers at their Birmingham headquarters on the latest developments and regulations for HVAC systems.”
